Working Together
How the Power of 12 works for our members.
Not-for-profit
Each of our 11 electric cooperatives buys power from Cooperative Energy at wholesale prices. Once we cover the costs of providing power and set money aside for the future and emergencies, any remaining funds, called capital credits, go back to you.
Together, the Cooperative Energy Member Systems have paid members over $400 million in capital credits through 2015.
Member-owned
Our 12 utility providers serve approximately 445,000 members. Working together, we have a more powerful voice when it comes to issues that impact our state, like keeping power costs low and keeping the environment clean.
Local leadership
Your electric cooperative’s elected board members are from your service area, providing local control. You can participate through voting, or simply contact your local electric cooperative.
